WORKFORCE TRENDS & HIRING OUTLOOK

As we move further into 2026, organizations across industries continue to navigate a rapidly evolving workforce landscape. Hiring priorities are shifting beyond simply filling open roles. Employers are increasingly focused on attracting adaptable, high-impact professionals who can support long-term business goals while navigating ongoing change in the market.

At the same time, employee engagement and retention remain major concerns for employers.

According to Gallup, global employee engagement declined again in 2025, with only 20% of employees considered engaged in their work. Gallup also reports that organizations with highly engaged teams see 23% higher profitability and up to 51%lower turnover, reinforcing the strong connection between engagement, retention, and business performance.

We’re also continuing to see employers take a more proactive approach to workforce planning. Many organizations are evaluating succession plans, identifying skill gaps, and building talent pipelines ahead of future growth initiatives rather than waiting for urgent hiring needs to arise. At the same time, candidates are placing greater value on workplace culture, leadership transparency, flexibility, and career development opportunities when evaluating new roles.

Research highlighted by Gallup and workforce analysts shows employee confidence and engagement have reached some of the lowest levels seen in the past decade, making thoughtful hiring and retention strategies more important than ever.

At King & Bishop, we continue partnering with organizations to navigate these evolving workforce challenges through strategic staffing, executive search, and workforce solutions tailored to today’s market. As hiring needs continue to evolve, our team remains focused on connecting businesses with talent that drives long-term success.
