Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their growing commercial, defense, and aerospace organization on a contract to possible hire basis. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial reporting across multiple business units.

 

The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, collaborative, customer-focused, and experienced with CAS, FAR, and government contracting environments. This position also requires strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a high-performing finance team.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all core accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payroll, and Tax
  • Supervise and develop accounting staff as the company grows
  • Lead monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and trial balance maintenance
  • Prepare financial reports and validate accuracy of financial data
  • Review travel & expense reports and weekly AP check runs
  • Review bi-weekly payroll processing
  • Provide accounting guidance and support to internal departments
  • Oversee ERP user access and internal controls (Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred)
  • Research accounting transactions and issues in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with accounting and audit policies and procedures
  • Identify cost savings opportunities and process improvements
  • Coach, mentor, and lead finance staff to meet goals and deadlines

Must Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience in a related industry (DoD, aerospace manufacturing)
  • Experience with CAS, FAR, and DFARs
  • Deltek Costpoint experience
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • General Ledger management experience
  • Prior people management experience with proven leadership skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

 

Nice to Have

  • CPA or CMA certification
  • Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience
  • Payroll experience
  • ERP implementation experience
  • Mergers & Acquisitions experience
