Temporary Human Resources Generalist
Location: Tewksbury, MA (On-site)
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (32–35 hours/week)
Duration: 6-month contract (July–December)
Target Start Date: June 29
Pay Rate: $28–$45/hour, depending on experience
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and self-directed Temporary Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations during a six-month engagement. This individual will play a key role in benefits administration, compliance, recruiting, and general HR operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, works well independently, and can quickly step in to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits inquiries, enrollment changes, life events, and COBRA administration
- Partner with benefits brokers and carriers to resolve claims, billing issues, and coverage questions
- Audit benefits invoices against payroll deductions to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and I-9 requirements
- Monitor employment law updates across multiple states and identify areas requiring policy or process updates
- Support HR documentation and compliance-related initiatives
- Partner with the Head of Human Resources on full-cycle recruiting for open positions
- Assist with intake meetings, candidate sourcing, screening, scheduling, and offer coordination
- Utilize creative sourcing strategies to engage qualified active and passive candidates
- Deliver a positive and seamless candidate experience throughout the hiring process
- Support onboarding and ensure all new hire documentation is complete and compliant
- Manage offboarding processes, including separations, documentation, and exit interviews
- Assist with performance review cycles, including mid-year and annual review processes
- Maintain accurate employee data in the HRIS, including promotions, status changes, and terminations
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers, helping resolve routine employee relations matters
- Identify opportunities to improve HR workflows, processes, and operational efficiency
- Research and troubleshoot HR-related issues independently, escalating complex matters when needed
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of progressive HR experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is a plus
- Experience with HRIS platforms (such as ADP or Oracle HCM) and Applicant Tracking Systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills
- Experience leveraging AI tools and modern HR technology is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
