Description
Our client is building a people-first assurance practice where Directors lead the business, not just engagements. You’ll own a profitable book, shape the team, and serve as a trusted advisor to middle-market clients across complex accounting and transaction topics.
What you’ll do
- Lead a portfolio of assurance engagements from planning through delivery; manage budgets, margins, and on-time execution.
- Act as primary client contact; build senior-level relationships and deliver proactive advice on growth, funding, M&A, and exit planning.
- Drive practice growth: meet prospects, scope work, prepare proposals, and cross-sell services.
- Mentor, coach, and review performance for managers/staff; champion a culture of helpfulness and continuous improvement.
- Oversee quality: ensure compliance with firm QC procedures, GAAP/GAAS/SSARS; perform/oversee EQCR where appropriate.
- Partner with firm leadership (COO/Partners) on strategy, operations, and firm-wide initiatives.
- Maintain market presence via networking, niche community involvement, and professional development.
What makes you successful
- Trusted leader and coach who elevates teams and sets clear, accountable standards.
- Commercial mindset with command of budgets, pricing, realization, and engagement profitability.
- Detail-oriented reviewer who also operates at “big picture” advisory level.
- Comfortable influencing change and adapting to shifting priorities.
Qualifications
- CPA required; 7+ years of progressive public accounting experience (regional/National/Top 100 firm experience ideal).
- 3+ years in quality control/equivalent (EQCR, internal inspections, or technical review).
- BS in Accounting; MSA or MBA preferred.
- Expertise with GAAP, GAAS, SSARS; exposure to transaction/M&A issues is a plus.

- Flexibility to adjust during peak periods.
