Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist

Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys driving process improvements while ensuring financial accuracy.

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, this individual will play a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow, supporting customer billing, and improving AR processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and cash application
  • Process and review customer invoices for accuracy and completeness
  • Review sales orders, purchase orders, and billing documentation to ensure proper invoicing
  • Process customer cash receipts and apply payments accurately
  • Prepare cash journal entries and perform account reconciliations
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on past-due balances
  • Support collections efforts while maintaining professional customer relationships
  • Review AR balances and help ensure reserves and write-offs are recorded accurately
  • Review credit memos and confirm proper supporting documentation
  • Assist with AR-related process improvements and special projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in full-cycle accounts receivable
  • Life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with invoicing software required
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, compile, and interpret financial data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
  • Comfortable learning new systems and software in a dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience with Concur
