Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist to manage the full-cycle accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, cash application, and account reconciliation. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys driving process improvements while ensuring financial accuracy.
Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, this individual will play a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow, supporting customer billing, and improving AR processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and cash application
- Process and review customer invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Review sales orders, purchase orders, and billing documentation to ensure proper invoicing
- Process customer cash receipts and apply payments accurately
- Prepare cash journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on past-due balances
- Support collections efforts while maintaining professional customer relationships
- Review AR balances and help ensure reserves and write-offs are recorded accurately
- Review credit memos and confirm proper supporting documentation
- Assist with AR-related process improvements and special projects as needed
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in full-cycle accounts receivable
- Life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred
- Experience with invoicing software required
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to research, compile, and interpret financial data
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments
- Comfortable learning new systems and software in a dynamic environment
