About the Opportunity
We are hiring on behalf of our client, a manufacturing company in the St. Petersburg area, seeking a hands-on Part-Time Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations.
This is a working Controller role, not just an oversight position. The ideal candidate will be directly involved in accounting activities, reconciliations, internal controls, and financial reporting while partnering closely with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff.
This position reports to executive leadership, including the CEO/President and Administrative Director.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including AP and AR
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial accuracy
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Participate in month-end and year-end close
- Support invoicing, collections, and cash flow monitoring
- Strengthen internal controls and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Support government contract accounting and DCAA compliance
- Identify process improvements and enhance workflow efficiency
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant
- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
- Government contracting and/or DCAA experience highly desirable
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of reconciliations, internal controls, and accounting best practices
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
