Position Overview

Our client, a highly regarded litigation law firm with a strong presence throughout the Northeast, is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its growing Medical Malpractice Defense and Long-Term Care Facilities litigation practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3–5 years of civil litigation experience who is ready to take greater ownership of matters while continuing to develop alongside experienced litigation partners. The role offers substantive case responsibility, meaningful courtroom exposure, direct client interaction, and opportunities for long-term professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Attorney will manage a diverse litigation caseload while collaborating closely with partners, clients, experts, and other members of the legal team. Responsibilities include:

  • Manage matters through all stages of litigation, from initial case assessment through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, status reports, and other legal documents
  • Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and trials
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies in collaboration with partners and clients
  • Conduct legal research and prepare clear, well-supported memoranda
  • Draft and argue dispositive and other substantive motions
  • Manage discovery and ensure compliance with court and case deadlines
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, including case updates and strategic guidance
  • Work alongside experienced partners on complex and high-value matters

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active admission to the Massachusetts State Bar
  • 3–5 years of civil litigation experience
  • Experience practicing in Massachusetts state and federal courts
  • Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions
  • Strong experience managing discovery
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
  • Experience drafting and arguing dispositive motions
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable taking ownership of assigned cases
