Our client, a growing healthcare organization, is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Front Desk Associate to support its PET Imaging department. This role combines traditional front desk responsibilities with prior authorization coordination, helping ensure patients receive timely, accurate care while supporting an efficient clinical workflow. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, experience with insurance verification, and familiarity with imaging or diagnostic workflows.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Patient Interaction:
- Greet and check in patients for PET imaging appointments
- Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information
- Schedule appointments and confirm pre-procedure instructions
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient inquiries promptly
- Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations
Prior Authorization Responsibilities:
- Review imaging orders to determine insurance requirements
- Submit and track prior authorizations for PET imaging procedures
- Communicate with insurance providers to obtain necessary approvals
- Notify providers and patients of any issues related to insurance coverage
- Ensure timely submission to prevent delays in patient care
Administrative & Documentation:
- Accurately update the electronic medical record (EMR) with patient and insurance information
- Coordinate with clinical staff and providers for smooth patient workflow
- Maintain organized filing and documentation for insurance and clinical records
- Support inventory and office supply management as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred
- Prior experience in medical office administration, front desk, or prior authorizations required
- Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes
- Experience with EMR systems preferred (e.g., eClinicalWorks, Epic, Athenahealth)
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
