Our Boston-based client is a fully integrated asset management firm, seeking a full-ptime Property Accountant, supporting the property management and finance team. In this role, the candidate will work directly with the property accounting team, property management team and Chief Financial Officer, to perform various accounting and financial functions for the client’s portfolio of owned and managed properties. As a Property Accountant you will primarily be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of your assigned portfolio.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining tenant ledgers, and rent rolls, processing rent checks
  • Monitoring bank accounts for wire payments received
  • Upkeep of tenant ledgers and rent rolls through designated accounting systems
  • Assisting with monthly close for on our commercial real estate portfolio
  • Monthly reporting, including preparing monthly supporting schedules
  • Performing financial analytics and analysis
  • Investor and Bank reporting, including quarterly reports, and annual financial statements
  • Work closely with the property management department on a day to day basis
  • Preparing and reviewing annual budgets
  • Completing annual tenant CAM and real estate tax reconciliations
  • Interacting and assisting external auditors
  • Performing other assigned duties and completing ad hoc projects, as required
  • We provide on the job training through one on one task specific instruction

Job requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting (4 Year)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Working knowledge of CRE accounting systems such as MRI and Yardi
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and/or Smartsheet
  • Ability to communicate effectively with superiors, peers, vendors and clients
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities, while meeting deadlines
  • High degree of personal integrity and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
  • A strong positive attitude, demonstrating the professionalism and flexibility needed to attain company goals
  • Must be capable of independent problem solving and teamwork
  • Minimum 3-5 years commercial real estate experience
