Description

One of the world’s leading manufacturers is seeking a talented HR Professional to head up their team. The role is based in Rhode Island, but also helps to support facilities outside of the state. This is a leadership role, working with the senior leadership team to manage labor and employee relations while ensuring a fun, healthy, and safe environment for employees.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a workforce through applying effective “positive” employee relations’ practices that encourage trust of leadership and encourage employees to work towards resolution of issues
  • Ensure policies and practices are well communicated and compliant with all federal, state, and local governmental labor and employment legislations
  • Administer or oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on policy and practice for non-represented staff, counsel and guide colleagues on complex employee related issues
  • Define, develop, and evaluate key workforce metrics to measure the success of HR programs and practices; provide reporting and analysis to management with recommendations for improvement
  • Leverage knowledge of labor and employment laws and regulations with the judgment to apply them practically to business situations
  • Partner with line leadership in managing a unionized workforce, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, and resolving union grievances
  • Guide management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedure, and practices
  • Ensure all company documentation is up to date, including employee manual, benefit summaries, postings and filings, I-9’s and more
  • Conduct new hire orientation and on-boarding program
  • Other responsibilities as necessary

Requirements:

  • 5 - 10 years’ experience of increasing responsibility in Human Resources
  • Collective bargaining, labor relations, contract administration, and policy development experience
  • Working knowledge of federal labor and employment law including the NLRA, FLSA, FMLA, ADA required
  • Basic knowledge of RI Workers Comp laws
  • Experience in administering employee benefit plans
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred
  • Ability to influence and partner across all functions and levels within and outside the organization on a global basis
  • Positive attitude, open communication, high energy, good listening skills, and sense of humor
  • Flexibility to adapt to a dynamically changing environment
  • Driven self-starter with a strong attention to detail and ability to operate autonomously
