Description
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturer in the Portland, ME area, has an immediate opening for a Chief People Officer (CPO).
Responsibilities:
- Lead the translation of business strategies, objectives, and challenges into the appropriate HR actions and initiatives
- Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to the chief executive officer and the executive leadership team
- Ensure approachability for all employees
- Cultivate a talent management, employment branding, and acquisition strategy
- Develop workforce planning models to identify organizational competency, knowledge, and talent gaps and develop specific programs to fill them
- Evaluate and determine an appropriate global HR structure to achieve the organization’s business objectives
- Recruit, onboard, and support a strong global HR team
- Create and monitor annual human resources budget

Requirements:
- Master’s degree preferred, with concentration in HR or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of senior HR leadership experience with an international organization, including exposure to emerging markets
- Experience in all facets of HR leadership
- Ability and willingness to operate on both strategic and operational levels; strong results orientation with a demonstrated ability to oversee the development of practical, solution-driven initiatives, and ensure implementation of new capabilities
- Experience in building a global human resources organization
- Experience in successfully navigating a matrixed reporting organization
- Demonstrated success leading change with employees at all levels, in a growth environment
- Demonstrated ability to have an “eye for talent,” being able to assess competency and skill fit
- Comfortable in a culture that is collaborative and flexible; ability to know when to shift direction and when to be persistent
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification
- Ability to travel globally on a regular basis
